Pipeline Surveys, Close Interval Surveys, Depth-of-Cover

We’re a 60 year old pipeline service company with specific experience in marine pipelines and river crossings. We survey buried pipelines where they cross rivers and large bodies of water and establish a baseline with RTK survey instruments, Differential GPS, and install benchmarks. We use side-scan sonar to view and map the surfaces of the river bottom and geologic instruments to determine the location and depth of burial of the pipelines.
Where cathodic potentials are required, we install current interrupters on their rectifiers and take close interval survey potentials on close centers. We run the CuCuSO4 half cells through a data logger with software and upload to our company cloud for post-processing.

After completion of the field work we process the data and coordinate it via AutoCAD software for presentation. We maintain an archive of approximately 50 years for the convenience of our customers.

Under 49 CFR parts 192 and 195, we determine the depth-of-cover over a pipeline and report on the conditions found underwater. Electronics will generally determine where pipelines are exposed or suspended. Once exposure is discovered we commit a commercial diver using surface-supplied diving equipment with communications and make the determination if coatings are damaged, if debris is attached to the line, if there is movement, and design a repair and stabilization plan.

DOT River Crossing Surveys and Inspections

We are currently working with approximately 240 pipeline operators to conduct their 5-year DOT pipeline inspections.  We follow the DOT 49 CFR parts 195 (liquids) and 192 (gas)  regulations closely and are in complete compliance.
